Carrie (Higbie) Goetz , Principal/CTO, StrategITcom, personifies nearly 40 years of global experience designing, running and auditing, data centers, IT departments, and intelligent buildings and smart cities. She is an international keynote speaker. Having traveled nearly 4,000,000 miles, Carrie works with end users in enterprise, colocation, hosting and cloud facilities with a broad background in the Financial, Government, Healthcare, Education, Retail, Hospitality and Industrial, Manufacturing. With a background in consulting and as a Fortune 500 IT executive, Carrie now provides technical direction and strategic planning spearheading CTOaaS functions as a fractional CTO and project manager for several organizations. She has developed and delivered over 800 hours of curriculum, and has taught at a collegiate level.
Carrie was awarded an honorary doctorate from AATCU for contributions to the industry. She holds an RCDD/NTS, PSP, CDCP and CDCS, CNID, AWS CCP, and CSM SCRUM master certified, a participant on the IEEE Standards Association, and a Master Infrastructure Mason. She has two patents. As an evangelist for women in the industry, she has recently honored as one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Mission Critical 2022, 10 Most Influential Women in Tech from Analytics Insight, CIO Look’s 2021 30 Most Influential Business Leaders, and honored to be a finalist for the Network Computing Inspiration Award in 2020 and 2020 CompTIA Women in Leadership Spotlight Award and the Infrastructure Masons IM100. In 2018 she was awarded the Top in Tech from the Jackson Business Journal.
She is active in Women in Data Centers, BICSI, Women in BICSI, AFCOM, 7x24Exchange, WIMCO, ASIS, WIS, Women Leading Technology, Cnet Technical Curriculum Advisory Board, MS/LA ASIS College and Women in Security Liaison, MS/LA Chair ASIS, IMasons Educational Advisory Board, NEDAS Advisory board, and WITI. She champions STEM education through outreach projects. Her podcast series, dedicated to trades, women and veterans in tech and data center careers, interviews some of the industry’s leaders and she cohosts the Infrastructure Masons Digital Foundation podcast and chairs the military spouse and family tech career outreach. These outreach projects target to youth, and those considering careers within the industry aimed at solving the critical talent shortage. She mentors up and coming talent at BICSI, 7×24 Exchange, AFCOM and other organizations.
Globally published, Carrie is a frequent industry blogger and expert contributing to over 250 publications in 69 countries. With articles and blogs in Inside Networks, Network Performance, Processor, ZeroDownTime, DataCenter Dynamics, Mission Critical to name a few. Carrie was awarded the “Communication News” Editor’s Choice Award for two years. Carrie is an expert in TechTarget’s SearchUnifiedCommunications, and a past contributor to SearchNetworking and SearchDataCenters forums and participant on the TechTarget Board of Advisors. She is the former President of the BladeSystems Alliance and member of the Board of Directors, prior participant in the IDC enterprise expert panel, Uptime Institute, numerous green building panels, standards bodies, the Ethernet Alliance, PMI, and IBM Share. She is the editor and a major contributor to the ASIS Cannabis Security Best Practices document precursor to expected standards development. She holds one telecommunications patent and one patent in physical security.
